INIFD Jaipur Interior DesigningInterior design is an exciting program meant for people who find that they have been blessed with creativity. A course in interior designing provides one with opportunities to get as imaginative as possible in curating dwelling spaces. Although, the work that an interior designer may get need not be restricted only to residential places as they are regularly invited to re-design corporate, commercial and retail spaces too. Many companies and organizations prefer the services of a professional interior designer who can provide such organizations with creatively designed interior themes that match well with their organization’s philosophy.

There are certain options available if one wants to go for interior designing as a career. To start with one has to first make the choice between a distance education and a regular education program.

1) Distance Education:

The benefits of a distance education are that you can work simultaneously in your day job while honing your skills and gaining knowledge in the field of interior design and decoration. Most distance education courses do not have any fixed class timings unlike those in regular courses. Further, such distance education programs are now serviced through online web based support, which make learning all the more easily accessible and convenient. In such online programs all the lectures, notes, videos, talking sessions are put together as pre-recorded online resources, which can be accessed any time. This is by far the best advantages of a distance education. However, one drawback of such a program is the lack of a peer network from which a student can exchange ideas and also learn simultaneously. The lack of a student community means that a student will have to learn everything on his own. This way, if you are completely new to the field of interior designing, it may turn out to be little difficult for you. That is why, a distance learning program is suitable for those are already familiar with the subject of interior designing and can grasp basic elementary concepts.

Regular education is suggested to aspirants when they are completely new to the field of interior designing. It is advisable then that students who are fresh out of high school should go for a full 3/4 undergraduate degree program in Interior designing. The benefits and advantages are many. While a diploma course is only for shorter duration, i.e., for 6-12 months, a regular course will be much longer. A diploma course will never be able to give a student enough time to explore the student’s interests and expectations from the course. Whereas a regular course of 3/4 year duration will allow a lot of room to a student to find his bearings and passion. Additionally, a student will be able to learn much deeper and intricately in an academic environment surrounded by other creative students.

Making a Choice

As said above, distance education is suitable for those who are already familiar with the field or have an undergraduate qualification in interior designing. Master’s courses are available for undergraduates of interior designing. To be able to successfully get admitted into a master’s program, a student will be required to demonstrate proven work in the past. There are also privately organized diploma courses offered by private academies and institutions that provide short term courses on interior designing. You may choose to opt for those courses as well, through the distance education mode.
But when it comes to students who have no familiarity with the interior designing course, it is strongly recommended that courses such as B.A. (Hons.) Interior Architecture & Design or Bachelors of Science in Architecture and Design are undertaken through the regular route only.
