Affiliated with Kamla Poddar institutes, INIFD Jaipur is often visited by figures who are active on the fashion scene. The primary objective behind such sessions is to educate the students about the realities of the creative world. This time around, Imam Siddique (Big Boss & MTV Fame) visited during the ‘Smarter Citizens Before Smarter Cities’ campaign.
During the interactive session, he shared inputs learned from being a fashion model, casting director & image consultant. Topics he talked about are:
1. Standing out from the crowd
Mr. Siddique told the students creativity is less about style and more about personality. Trends keep changing all the time, but a true designer will always inject their indivualistic personality into the constantly varying trends.
‘If beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, vulgarity does too’ he added on. So a designer should never worry about the length of their designs as long as it makes aesthetic sense.
2. On-going trends in design & photography world
Mr. Siddique shared an interesting opinion on the current ‘Selfie’ culture. He said that there used to be a certain technique to clicking photos in the past, which has been ruined by the current generation. The ‘Selfie-cide’ generation thinks that making weird faces and showcasing irrelevant attitude is the ‘in-thing’. Repairing this non-artistic thought process should be an important agenda for every designer/photographer.
3. Recipes For Success
“The road to success is paved with a healthy lifestyle”, Mr. Siddique told the students. Although we all have the talent & determination to be successful, but negligence towards our health will often get in the way. He concluded with telling the student that the one thing we should all invest in is ourselves.
The event was also covered by many newspapers, here are a few clippings of the same:
